What's the Difference Between the "Sales" role and the "Sales (User Owned Demos On)" role?

We'll review the main differences between the two default Sales Roles found within the Consensus Platform.

There are two default "Sales" roles found within Consensus. Both of these roles (Sales; Sales -User Owned Demos On) allow Sales Reps to create DemoBoards, track the DemoBoards they've sent, create Mail Merge Links and give them access to Consensus Snap.

The main difference between these two roles is found within their demo creation capabilities. The "Sales" role does not have the ability to create their own personalized Single Video Demos, whereas the "Sales (User Owned Demos On)" role does.

The main differences are highlighted below:

  • Manage Demos:

    • Sales: Will have access to Manage Demos but will not be able to create Single Video Demos, nor will they be able to edit any existing demos:

    • Sales (User Owned Demos On): Will have access to Manage Demos along with the ability to edit any Single Video Demo they've created.
  • Create Demos:

    • Sales: Will only have access to the Manage Demos section (which gives them the ability to Preview the content found within the system):

    • Sales (User Owned Demos On): Will have access to the Manage Demos section as well as having the ability to create Single Video Demos. They will also be able to Download the Screencast-O-Matic tool:

  • Consensus Snap:

    • Sales: Will have the ability to create DemoBoards from Existing Content:

    • Sales (User Owned Demos On): Will have the ability to create DemoBoards from Existing Content along with the added functionality to create their own Single Video Demo:

      • They will also be able to Upload video files to Consensus Snap if they have a pre-recorded video they want to add:

We believe all Sales Reps should have the ability to create content within their respective roles. However, we know this is something that differs by company. If your company allows reps to create their own customized content then we'd recommend assigning the role "Sales (User Owned Demos On)".

If you need to restrict what's being sent to your prospects then the "Sales" role would work best for you. The benefit you have within Consensus is the ability to assign some members with this system permission while restricting others.
