Step 2 - Recording your first demo
Step 2 — Record your first demo
Step 2 of new-user onboarding. By the end of this step you'll have your first Consensus demo ready to send.
Pick a demo type
- Single Experience — one fixed video walkthrough. Simplest. Best for short overviews and recorded webinars.
- Standard Personalization — viewers rate features by importance, get a tailored playlist. The workhorse format for sales.
- Discovery Demo — branching paths via Discovery Builder. Best for multi-persona buyer journeys.
For your first demo we recommend Single Experience — it's the fastest path to having something to share. You can graduate to Standard or Discovery once you're comfortable.
Record your video
- Use any screen recorder (ScreenPal, Camtasia, Loom, QuickTime, OBS). Aim for 1080p, no background noise.
- Save as MP4.
- See "Recommended Content Creation Guidelines" for full quality tips.
Upload into Consensus
- Click Create → Single Experience.
- Walk through the Demo Wizard's six steps (see "How to Create a Single Experience Demo" for the full walkthrough).
- On Step 3 (Demo Content), upload your video.
- On Step 6 (Finalize), set Demo Access and click Publish.
Send it as a test
Send a Test DemoBoard to yourself (toggle "Mark as Test" in Additional Options so it's excluded from real metrics). Walk through the viewer experience end-to-end. See "Create a DemoBoard within Consensus" for the full create-and-send flow.
