What's the Difference Between a Personalized Demo vs a Public Demo?
Personalized Demo vs. Public Demo
Consensus has multiple demo types (Single Experience, Standard Personalization, Discovery), but every demo is delivered as either a Personalized Demo or a Public Demo. The difference between them is how viewers engage and whether there's a lead form gate.
Personalized Demo
Used by Sales — a rep creates a DemoBoard for a specific prospect or organization. Three benefits:
- Viewers click their name to start watching — no lead form gate. Lower friction means higher engagement.
- The rep gets an email notification the moment a prospect starts watching, or when a prospect shares the demo with a colleague.
- Demolytics tracks each viewer's engagement individually — which features they watched, which they rated as important, how long they watched. The rep can use that to focus follow-up conversations on what the prospect cares about.
Public Demo
Used by Marketing — a single Public Link that anyone can hit. Common placements:
- Embedded on your website (product page, landing page).
- Shared on social media channels.
- Linked in mass email campaigns or paid ads.
A Public Demo always has a Lead Capture Form gating access. Without the form, Consensus has no way to identify who's watching — so analytics can't attribute the view to a person. If you turn the lead form off, you lose visitor identity entirely.
One demo, two delivery modes
You can use the same demo for both Personalized and Public delivery — Consensus auto-detects which mode you're in and applies the right settings:
- Creating a DemoBoard (WebApp, Consensus SNAP, Mail Merge integrations) — auto-removes the lead gate. Personalized Demo mode.
- Generating a Public Link (WebApp) — auto-adds the Lead Capture Form. Public Demo mode.
Demolytics keeps Sales and Marketing performance separate in the Summary Demolytics tab — you can see how the same demo performs in each channel without manually splitting reports.
