What is a Vision Demo?
A Vision Demo is the first of the six demo types in the Consensus methodology — a short, high-level demo delivered at the very top of the sales cycle. Its job is to help a prospect "catch the vision" for what your solution does and why it matters. It's not a deep product walkthrough; it's a 30-second-to-5-minute story about the problem you solve, the solution you offer, and the benefits you deliver.
The PSB framework
Every Vision Demo centers on three elements: Problem, Solution, Benefit (PSB). In order:
- Problem — the painful business reality your prospect lives in today. Make this specific and recognizable; the viewer should think "yes, that's us."
- Solution — your product's value proposition at the highest level. Not features, not screens — the answer to "what is this thing?"
- Benefit — what changes for the prospect when they adopt your solution. Typically expressed as outcomes (faster cycles, less risk, more revenue) rather than capabilities.
Where Vision Demos fit in the buyer journey
The six demo types map to where the buyer is mentally:
- Vision Demo (this article) — "why should I care?" — value proposition.
- Micro Demo — "how does it work at a high level?" — qualification both ways.
- Standard / Discovery / Single Experience — "show me what I care about most" — personalized exploration.
Before a viewer engages with a Vision Demo, they're typically asking themselves three questions:
- "Will this solution actually solve my problems?"
- "What will our world look like if we adopt it?"
- "How have other companies succeeded with it?"
A good Vision Demo answers all three within five minutes.
Characteristics of a Vision Demo
- Primary objective — capture and qualify a new lead.
- Length — minimum 30 seconds, maximum 5 minutes.
- Message framework — Problem, Solution, Benefit (PSB).
- Product depth — light. A few key screenshots or visuals; not a feature walkthrough.
- Built by — Marketing.
- Delivered by — Marketing or BDRs.
- Placement — published on your website (often as a Public Link), included in mass email campaigns, or used by BDRs in outreach.
- Delivery — fully automated, asynchronous.
How to build one in Consensus
A Vision Demo isn't its own demo type in the Demo Wizard — like a Micro Demo, it's a content pattern you build using existing demo formats. The most common choice:
- Single Experience Demo — record one 2–4 minute Problem-Solution-Benefit narrative, attach related documents (case studies, testimonial PDFs), and publish as a Public Link. Embed on your homepage, include in nurture campaigns, or hand to BDRs as first-touch outreach.

Demo Wizard create menu — pick Single Experience to start a Vision Demo.
For step-by-step on creating the Single Experience demo, see "How to Create a Single Experience Demo." For ideas on the next demo type after Vision, see "What is a Micro Demo?"
